Ed's wife Sonja had a 1967 showcar featured in Hot VW's Magazine.

Ed restored and kept his 1962 VW Bus.

The bus was often used as a tow vehicle because it was equipped with a 2016cc motor with 48 IDA's.

This was also used as the playpen when Ed and Sonja would take their daughter Wesley to car shows.

Ed and Sonja's 1969 custom Baja Bug complete with a 3rd baby seat for their daughter. This Baja Bug was also featured in the Hot VW's Magazine.

After his daughter grew out of her baby seat in the baja bug, Ed built a custom buggy for her. Ed fabricated and engineered the buggy from the group up using parts from a VW Jetta and a quad.

After they sold the black baja bug, Ed built a full chasis baja bug with 1965 VW Convertible skins and a Toyota V6 Motor.

After his daughter grew out of her buggy Ed decided it was time for something bigger. He bought her a Ranger and did a complete build on it seen in the next photo.

The completed 2001 Ranger build complete with full suspension, cage work and an LS1 motor.
Ed Bostwick has been involved in the Volkswagen lifestyle ever since he was a teenager. It started out when Ed was a teen helping his friend in his gargae work on VW's, which expanded into helping open and run a shop for 5 years. Ed advanced his career by becoming a mechanic in a shop who specialized in high-end German cars. In 1989 Ed and his father-in-law Max, opened an automotive repair shop named Maxed Performance. During this time Ed was restoring VW's and racing his 1956 right hand drive yellow oval window turbo bug.
As he started a family, Ed decided it was time to retire in the racing world and change to something his whole family could enjoy. His wife, Sonja had met him at the races but also introduced him into the world of off-roading. With a knack for fabricating and engineering, Ed began building off-road vehicles from VW's and also from scratch. He is always the go-to guy for his friends when they run into a problem!
As time has gone there seem to be fewer and fewer people who really know Volkswagons, so many have sought out Ed out to work on theirs. As more Vanagons came into Maxed Performance for work, the owners would see all of Ed's fabricating work and ask for custom pieces for their Vanagons. As the requests came in, Ed decided all owners should be able to access and benefit from his work. This is when Bostwick Built was born and officially launched in early 2017.
